Pronterface dio je Printrun hosta koji se sastoji od Pronterfacea, Pronsole i Printcorea koji su redom: GUI host, konzola za spajanje na pisač i slanje naredbe iz retka (jupi! \o/) Gcode host. Radite li kalibraciju grejača i termistora, ili nadograđujete firmware na pisaču, ovo je jednostavno neizostavan program, koji morate imati.

Octoprint je web-sučelje za udaljeni ispis na 3D pisačima, koji ne moraju imati mrežno sučelje – tada ih se spaja na neki od Arduino ili Raspberry Pi modula s mrežnim sučeljem. Osim upravljanja pisačem, OctoPrint podržava i upravljanje web-kamerom (koja prati njegov ispis) i daje brojne druge mogućnosti (nadgledanje temperature unutar kućišta kod pisača sa zatvorenim kućištem) i brojne druge. Uglavnom, za malo ozbiljnije i profesionalnije potrebe, ali zgodno i za hobiste.

MeshMixer besplatni je Autodeskov alat za editiranje i ispravljanje STL i OBJ formata, koji je često jedini upotrebljivi alat za mnoge modele preuzete s Interneta.

Blender ­je alat za 3D modeliranje i animiranje, i prema svemu, overkill za potrebe prosečnog 3D ispisivača, ali, kao i MeshMixer, katkad mu nema alternative.

RepetierHost je slicer i program za udaljeni ispis, posve besplatan i otvorena kôda koji podržava integraciju i tuđih slicera u svoj GUI, te ima podršku za do čak 16 ekstrudera (ako imate više od dva na vašem pisaču, ovo definitivno nije tekst za vas, profesore, doktore…)
